Are you searching for ways to get more money out of Google Adsense!
Google adsense is an amazing tool that can be used by anyone to make from $0.01 to $100,000.
Many websites who currently use google adsense may be losing vast revenue by making some simple mistakes with the positioning/website integration, frequency, colour, size and type.
Here are some great tips that will help you get the most profit possible out of google adsense.
Positioning/website integration
Many websites keep the adsense separate from the main
content of the website, meaning that users are less likely
to click on the adverts. If the correct google adsense
advert types are used then it can be very easy to integrate
them into the main content of the website. This gives more
clicks especially if the adverts are directly related to the
content, as users may want to learn more or get different
views from the websites shown in the adverts.
Another good position for the adverts is close to your navigation. If the colour is the same or similar and the positioning of the adverts is in a way in which it fits in with the navigation, many visitors click the adsense links thinking these are navigation links. This can bring a high click through rate, but many users of your website may get annoyed by this and constantly having to go back to your page to get what they are looking for (this is best done using the streamlined link unit formats with navigation at the top of our web page).
What should always be remembered with the positioning of the adverts, is that even though one position may work for one website it doesn't necessarily mean it will work with yours. Most websites are unique and the positioning of the adverts will work differently on every website, so play around with different types until you are getting the most of out it.
Frequency
In my first google adsense optimisation report I was told to
put more adverts on my website to get more clicks, but does
this actually work?
The simple answer is it really depends on your website. My website at the time was a simple proxy website with one page that filled the screen. I had one set of adverts below the search bar and they fit in well. Now if I was to add 2 more sets of adverts to the website it may look really cluttered and put users off using my website, this would decrease my traffic and probably get me only $1 a month extra in adsense revenue but my traffic would probably be lower.
However adding lots of adverts to websites does work on large sites where one page has a lot of information, especially if the user has to scroll down the page to read more information. On a page like this an advert could be put at the top of the page, at the bottom of the content and at the side about half way down. This gives the user constant view of the adverts and is more likely to click them.
Colour
This is a very simple concept but sometimes webmasters use
colours in the wrong places. Some people choose colours that
blend into the background and others use colours that
contrast and stand out to the users.
In a normal website usually a combination of the two work well. If the adverts are within the content then the adverts should usually be blended in to get the best chance of a user reading that adverts and seeing something they are interested in and clicking on them. If the adverts are outside the content then contrasting or complementing colours should be used to draw the eye from the mail content of the website to the adverts.
Size
Many people who want to use adsense for the sole income of
their website put the largest adverts on the website, so
there is more chance for the users seeing the adverts. This
is very good if the colour, positioning and design of the
website fits around the adverts and the user is genuinely
interested in what is shown in the adverts. In most cases
this just really doesn't work out and the adverts seem out
of place due to the size despite the colours and positioning
being good. Large adverts can however increase the clicks
hugely if they are in the correct position, coloured
correctly and relevant to the website content.
It also depends heavily on if you chose to have a picture, video or text advert.
Type
There are many different types on google adsense and which
one is best is generally down to preference and design of
your website.
The most common type of advert used is a text add unit. These are great for a user to look at as it gives them a small description of what the website is about along with the title. These are great adverts for most websites and can be made to contrast or blend in with the website.
A more recent type of advert is the picture ad. These come in exactly the same sizes as the text ads but as it suggest it's a large picture instead. These are brilliant for both blending in with website that have a lot of pictures (especially if pictures are clicked on to follow links in the website, increasing clicks) and adding some colour to plain websites.
